I grew up in what most people would consider a small town. It was a great place to grow up and I consider it home, even though I now live 1000 miles away. My hometown is LaPorte, Indiana. Only a few hours drive from Chicago, Indianapolis or Detroit it was a great area. A documentary is being made of my home town. Here is a link to some info about it http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jasonbitner/laporte-indiana-our-independent-feature-doc-film

Happy Easter!

Beautiful day here in Virginia. A little chilly, but the blue sky was warm on our skin and thats all that mattered. Lily was dressed in her Easter finest, my baby is growing up!

She had a great time on the egg hunt and the bunny stopped by with some goodies of his own.

New plush toys from the Disney store! I had asked a friend who was at Disney a few weeks ago to try to find Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket while he was there. He emailed upon his return to say they didn't find a single one! Luckily I was at the Disney store last week and they had both.

Buzy, buzy!!

Well, its been a buzy couple of weeks here in VA. Jeff turned 42 and we went out to dinner (minus Lily, who stayed with her preschool teacher, Sara). We ate at the wonderful Mill Street Grill. We both got BBQ and it was amazing! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great restaurant.

The weather has been typical March weather, sunny & warm one day then raining & cold the next. I know spring will be here soon as is evident by the daffodils already blooming and the tulips pushing up to bloom next.

One day a week or so ago, Lily wanted all her animals in my bed. It was quite the site, so I had to snap a photo. She's hard to see in the photo. It reminds me of when ET hid in the closet amongst all the toys.

You can see baby jaquar, various teddy bears, dog puppet, Henry the Octopus, Elmo, Grover, bunny rabbit & Minnie Mouse.

A month, really?

Apparenty its been a whole month since I posted anything. Doesn't seem that long. Not a lot going on here in VA. We got snow again last Sunday evening. Total snowfall around 5-6 inches. Thats a lot for here. No school Monday morning and a 2-hour delay on Tuesday. Today it got into the 60s and most of the snow is gone.

Lily had speech today. She is really coming along well. She has mastered the "s" very well and can now say "Up in the sky" instead of "Up in the ky". I'm so proud. Still needs help with "n" and "l", but that will come in due time. We practice and read at home and that helps.

She is totally into Candy Land. It was a birthday gift from her friends. Every day we play. Sometimes I give her the good cards to get her closer to the end so we can quit. I probably shouldn't, but it takes a long time to play CL according to the rules.

I told Lily today we were going to go on an airplane and visit her Aunt Heather. She sounded excited. I hope it goes well. This will be her first plane ride. I'm really looking forward to seeing my sister and her kids. I have only seen photos of Neil, so I'll get to hold & cuddle him. Good times!

We got snow!

Its been a busy week here in Virginia. On Tuesday we got about 4 inches of snow. Thats a lot for here. School was closed on Tuesday & started an hour late on Wednesday. Now, being from northern Indiana, 4 inches of snow isn't that much to me. However, when none of the roads go in a straight line here & you're mostly going up/down hills and around curves, it does make a difference. Not to mention the fact that since it doesn't snow much here, no one knows how to drive it in. I usually stay home in this situation as I don't want to risk it. Lily got to play in the snow at preschool on Tuesday. She was thrilled to make snow angels and eat "ice cream" (snow). I'll have to add the photo next week...I downloaded it wrong. OOPS

On Wednesday, Lily attended Stefen's 5th birthday party. Stefen is the son of Miss Sara, Lily's preschool teacher. They had a blast running around & playing. Here are a few photos:

Why I LOVE Target

I am done Christmas shopping for this year. I'm done with birthdays too, including gifts for birthdays. I have been stalking Targets toy aisle for the past few weeks. I got the toys in the photo for 50% off, some were 75%. Why shop now? Well, Lily is still little enough to enjoy all these items, plus the savings are hard to pass up.

Three a.m.

No, its not the name of a band or a line from a song. Its the time I was awakened this morning. I didn't hear the normal "mommmmy", but a rather shrill scream that was like something out of a horror movie. I knew the problem the minute I opened the door. There is no mistaking the smell of vomit. Yes, she threw up. It scares her as she was crying and shaking. My poor baby! I yelled for Jeff and we commenced the clean up. We changed diapers and jammies, then put Lily in my bed while we finished. I'm so glad Jeff was helping...I tend to get sick myself when cleaning up this particular kind of mess. I'll gladly change poopy diapers everyday, but keep the puke away from me. She seems to be feeling fine this morning.
